William does everything with intention, integrity and care. I have attended his workshops, played and owned instruments... made by him, and used employed his artistic/design skills- always to my full satisfaction. Recently have been impressed with his feather protector spray. I would stand by and reccommend any of his products and services 100%.read more

Getting drone footage for some upcoming educational videos I have in the works. That’s Hale ridge in the background, with a few thousand acres of national forest surrounding it. Just a skip and jump from our property here in beautiful Rabun county.

Five falls gorge on the wild and scenic chattooga River. Went bushwhacking with @negligentsmith and @hyphae_coldbrew yesterday. Getting here without a trail wasn’t easy, but worth the view!!!

Custom conch shell trumpet with hand carved cedar
Custom conch shell trumpet with hand carved cedar mouthpiece and braided rope handle.

This client asked me to create a mouthpiece for their trumpet. I utilized sustainably harvested cedar from Arabia mountain, raw cotton rope for the braided handle, and an additional copper bell. Finished with a beautiful heirloom trumpet, or what my tribe calls a guamo.

Ceramic duct style flute commemorating the Taino c
Ceramic duct style flute commemorating the Taino cemi of the hurricane.

I made this flute in early 2020 during the initial quarantine period near April and May. For me the Taino cemi Juracán, and it’s representation of the chaos and destruction of the hurricane, called out to me during this last year. Though I rarely get many effects of hurricanes here in Appalachia, the storm brought out by the pandemic was an equal comparison for my perspective.

I wanted to be reminded not only of the negative, but also the positive growth and rebirth, initiated by the devastation of hurricanes, or another example would be wildfires. These acts of nature are necessary forces to make way for new life.
