Complete your Indian Lore Merit Badge requirements in a single workshop. Open to any scout needing this badge. We will meet the requirements for the merit badge. Please bring your blue card signed by our scout leader.
BSA Certified Merit Badge Counselor
$40 fee for 3 hour workshop.
– Identify the different American Indian cultural areas. Explain what makes them each unique.
– Give the history of one American Indian tribe, group or nation that lives or has lived near you. Visit it, if possible. Tell about traditional dwellings, way of life, tribal government, religious beliefs, family and clan relationships, language, clothing styles, arts and crafts, food preparation, means of getting around, games, customs in warfare, where members of the group now live, and how they live.
– Make and decorate three items used by the tribe, as approved by your counselor.
– Make an authentic model of a dwelling used by any Indian tribe, group, or nation.
– A demonstration showing how a specific Indian group traditionally hunted, fished, or trapped.
– Write or tell about eight things adopted by others from American Indians.
Please bring your own Merit Badge Worksheet and Blue Card. Scouts must be at least 13 years old to attend a workshop without an adult.
Your child doesn’t need to be a scout to participate. Great for homeschoolers and those interested in learning about indigenous peoples of the Americas.
