Take time to learn the process of cleaning raw skin for drum making, starting with raw (called “green hide” but not actually green) skin and basic tools you will experience techniques to work skin until ready for drum making. Build your own frame using contemporary techniques or ancient traditions. Then finally birth your drum into it’s new existence as your new tool for self discovery and inner travel. Learn basic technique for utilizing your drum shared from distant ancestors and cross cultural methods. Connect with your primal spirit and connect with the process of drum making like nowhere else!!!
Free camping provided! Other options available such as airbnb room, primitive cabin and more. Food donations required, family style meals all weekend.
- Arrive Friday night– potluck and meet/greet
- Saturday– Half day cleaning skins 2-3 hours (fleshing), group hike (drum parts collection), outdoor lunch and drum history and uses discussion, envisioning your drum. Group dinner and drum circle/talking circle.
- Sunday– Build drum, maintenance and care discussion
Cost will be $175 plus food donation so we can all eat!
